剧情
　　15岁的占美在一次意外中拯救了海盗首领，从而得到一个球状星空藏宝图，发现了传说中的「宝藏星球」，藏有从全宇宙一千多个星球抢夺回来的宝物，怀着好奇的阿占决心寻宝，因而展开了一次惊险的寻宝之旅。旅程中占美不但遇到各种新奇有趣的事物及认识各样前所未见的航天员物，更与飞船上的伙头史约翰、魔飞建立了一段难得的友谊，一起驾着飞船冲破殒石群、越过时间黑洞，更认识了笑料百出的机械人阿BEN。可是一天占美却发现身边最可靠的朋友史约翰原来是一名阴险的太空海盗，遂展开一段段正邪激斗。而且原来一直被埋藏的宝物还有一个意想不到的惊人秘密……

幕后制作
　　《星银岛》是迪士尼公司推出的第42部经典动画电影。取材自18世纪著名儿童读物作家，罗伯·路易丝·史蒂文森(Robert Louis Stevenson)的世界名著——《金银岛》(Treasure Island)。不过不同于原著《金银岛》的是，这部《星银岛》要将整个故事挪进充满梦幻色彩的星际太空。
　　担任导演和剧本改编的是迪斯尼的老将罗恩·克莱门特和约翰·默斯克。这两人曾经多次成功合作，共同创作了众多的精品。例如《阿拉丁》(Aladdin)、《大力士》(Hercules)、《小美人鱼》(The Little Mermaid)等等，均被多次被列为“20部最值得推荐的儿童影片”。
　　在配音工作中不多见的是，《星银岛》的主角基姆·霍金斯有两位配音演员，一位是演员约塞夫·高登·卢维特，负责对话部分的配音工作。另一位则是特意请来的著名摇滚乐队——Goo Goo Dolls的主唱乔尼·瑞责兹尼克，专门为角色配唱。刚刚因《激情年代》获得2002年东尼奖最佳舞台剧男配角奖的，布赖恩·莫瑞则将为片中的第一号反派——半人半机器的独脚大盗斯尔维尔配音。英国老牌女星艾玛·汤普森，则会为片中埃米莉(Amelia)船长配音。
　　至于影片配乐，将由为《恐龙》(Dinosaur)和《亚特兰蒂斯·失落的帝国》(Atlantis: The Lost Empire)等片配乐的詹姆斯·牛顿·霍华德(James Newton Howard)所负责。
